I couldn't resist the Coconut party supplies at 50% off, so Kelly is having a Coconut-themed party this year (8th birthday in the spring). I was checking out some of the books at AG.com and I was wondering if anyone had any advice or reviews on them. I thought some of them might make good party activities...
Coconut's Cookbook - I thought this might be worth it just to get the Coconut-face cake stencil. And maybe make one of the recipes at the party?
Coconut Quiz Book - Would this be good for a party activity? What kinds of quizzes are in it?
Coconut's Friendship File - Thought it might be fun to have the party guests fill out their information.
Coconut Puzzle Book - Something for the kids to do at the party?? Or I could make copies to add to the goody bags if the girls didn't want to do them at the party.
Coconut Photo Journal - This looks like it might be cute for Kelly to make a little scrapbook about her party.
The party will be a sleepover, so we'll have a bit of time to kill. Any thoughts or opinions on these activities will be appreciated!
(I sure wish I had browsed through these at AGP when we were there, but at the time, Coconut was the last thing on my mind! )

We have Coconut's Quiz Book and Coconut's Puzzle book, and I would recommend them both. My daughter is 10 and loves Coconut. These books have been great for airplane and car travel. They are cute and interesting for girls in the target age.
Examples from Coconut's Quiz Book:
Dream On!
This quiz asks about the type of dreams you have -1. You're Falling
2. You Lost Something
3. You're Being Chased
Etc. with more types of dreams.
On the next page there are explanations of what these type of dreams mean.
1. You're Falling.
Dreams of falling often mean that you're feeling uneasy or that someone has let you down. But did you know that people usually wake up before they hit bottom in their dreams?
Other quizzes deal with pets, friendship, popularity, etc. They are not really deep but are a bit thought provoking. The quizzes are meant to be shared with a friend.
I have seen these books at Sam's Club and Target for less than the retail price. They are also on Amazom.com and other bookstores.

The AG Tiny Treasures book on sale from $9.95 to $5 has a lot of fun little crafts that this age group would love. I am going to do some of them with my girl scout troop.

I also have the AG Party Idea book that came with the girl size music headset from the talent show set. I haven't brought this out of my "stash" yet but I could look at it if you need more ideas.

Thanks Judi! I appreciate all the info. I have a GS troop, too (2nd grade Brownies). We'll have to talk shop sometime. How old are your girls?

You may still be able to look at these books first hand.
Most Barnes and Nobles and Borders carry them.
DD has two (can't remember which ones) and loves them. For what I remember the activities were cute.

My girl scouts are 10 years old and going into 5th grade. There are a lot of girl scout leaders on this board. We have shared some great ideas. My troop had the country Sweden for the Julliete Lowe rally and we made Kirsten's girl size flower head wreaths with directions from an AG short story. We also made little yarn dolls similar to a simple version of Kirsten's doll. AG had a lot of good ideas for crafts that my DD loves.

We had just a "doll party" for the fun of it with that Coconut set. I made several different types of necklaces for the girls to make. They ended up making several and matching sets for themselves. Since the party was only 3 hours, the girls spent quite a bit of time doing that. They also did the craft in the Coconut gift bags. We played a few of the games from the book that comes with the set, and they were fun.
I was able to have our bakery make the cutiest Coconut cake, and we placed it on the top tier with cupcakes on the bottom tier. The way they shaped the Coconut, it looked like she had her fanny in the air, and we placed a fake butterfly on her nose...
We had this party in May I believe, and DD's friends still talk about it and wear the necklaces. DD was in 3rd grade when we did this.
Have fun!

I got Coconut's Guide to Life and really like this book for both children, teens and adults.
